Here we are again, a photo of two Lapwings at the waters edge. They are of course, waders. Watched them for a very long time, and their calls are so awesome and cute hehe

Off to see Ants Show

Had a quick snack, now its time to get back and watch the UK Dropping News Show from Anthony. The Squirrel is a fan of his ;)

Sleepy

Here we can see two very tired Mallard Drakes. Fast asleep hehe Bless them

Awesome

Here is a photo of a Blackheaded Gull at the back and an awesome little Lapwing in front. You can see the difference in size of these two birds.

Lots of coots and lapwings

Wildlife Files Visitors Center Garden at Little Paxton Pits Nature Reserve. Feb-15-2010

WILDLIFE FILES 15th FEBRUARY 2010

Welcome to another edition of Phil's WILDLIFE FILES 15th FEBRUARY 2010

Early this morning, we returned to my home from home, the Nature Reserve at Little Paxton Pits. I often hear but not see straight away, various birds. One of the hardest for me to film around the reserve, is the smallest bird in the uk, growing to only 10cm. The Little WREN. This morning, I managed to get a few seconds of this beautiful little bird. They are so small and fast, and that makes them hard for me to film, especially as there are usually dogs off the lead running around the area.

If you have been watching my youtube videos, you will have seen that I have posted a video or two of a Heron on its nest. This morning, he has found a mate, and they continue to decorate thieir nest.

I saw a pair of Mistle Thrushes fly up the trail, and so we headed to the Hayden hyde and after 15 minutes or so, they appeared, but not where I thought they would. They appeared at the feeding table. They did not remain there for long, but what an awesome sight. Bigger than a Blackbird, and has white in the corner of its tail feathers and grey upper parts. The Song Thrush does not have white in its tail, nor grey, it is pale brown on its back.

Also in this edition, A Drake Smew and three female Smew ducks,. These may seem fuzzled as I used Digital Zoom to get a closer look at them.

A wonderful Male Goldeneye Duck, and last but mnot least. COOT FIGHT. They are pairing up and defending their territory and their lovers ;) This is what may happen when they get a little rattled with unwanted guests.

Thank you for your continued support and comments and ratings and thanks to those who share the videos.

I hope you enjoy the video, and appreciate, the wonderful sights and sounds of our natural world, that we really need to start and take care of, before it is too late. It maybe too late now, but together, we can make a difference.

Peace to one and all.

Phil

Light snow they say today.

WILDLIFE FILES FEBRUARY 2010 WEEK 1 PAXTON PITS NATURE RESERVE

A collection of the birds we saw this week at the reserve,

WILDLIFE FILES FEBRUARY 4TH 2010

This video contains a clip that some people may find disturbing. It is of a Cormorant with a fish and hook. I am only posting that clip, to highlight the constant dangers to our waterfowl, by fisherman. There was nothing we could do, the Cormorant flew off towards the River side of the Reserve, it would not be easy to locate it, they cover a lot of ground in a few minutes. I just hope that it will survive.
